I’ve always wanted to try Rugby, back in school I studied dance which set me aside from all the other boys in my year, I wanted nothing more than to be able to go play Rugby with everyone else but my face didn’t fit so during PE I kept to simpler things and never really got involved in competitive sport. Since moving to Wales it became clear you couldn’t escape Rugby where ever you go, and when I saw the advert for the Give It a try session I gave it some serious thought.. It took about a year to pluck up the courage to actually go to a session, a lot of my friends and family laughed when I told them and they didn’t think it was for me. But what an amazing session it was! Everyone was so welcoming and friendly it didn’t matter I could barely catch or throw a ball because everybody there knows how it feels to be the new person. The coaches and players were extremely supportive and I was made to feel a part of the team very quickly, not only has it helped build confidence I have also made some fantastic friends. Rugby is so much more than sport it’s a sense of belonging knowing someone has your back, because in training and on the pitch you are a family and that feeling is awesome! I would recommend trying Rugby to anyone!
